Know your web and feed traffic
Your blog is likely read both by people who are surfing the web and people who subscribed through Google Reader, NetNewsReader, or one of the many other news readers. Statzen tracks each time they view your content no matter how they got there – we think that’s the only way to truly measure the attention you are receiving.
Statzen was created to help bloggers be better bloggers. And – the more you know about how your readership interacts with your blog, the better blogger you will be.
Focus on Content
How many people viewed your post from last Monday? Statzen can tell you.
As a blogger, you publish content in blog posts and pages. You may write, draw, photo, video, mix, sing, or speak to create the content, but you publish it in blog posts and pages. Statzen measures the attention that is received by each post and page.
Other analytics software measures the number of views by URL, so they can tell you how many times the front page was viewed. But who knows what post was at the top of the front page at that time? Statzen knows. Other analytics software measures the number of times feed reader software requested the feed. But who knows which posts were actually viewed? Statzen knows.
Why would you care what content your readership views? To be a better blogger.
Track topics
If you knew what topics interest your readership most, could you be a better blogger? We think so. So Statzen identifies the topics of a post by combining and matching the tags and categories that you attached (blogger-defined) and the words in the search strings that brought readers to that post (reader-defined). Because Statzen tracks attention on each individual post, we can build that data into information about what topics in your blog are hot and what topics are not.
Topic analytics can help readers explore your blog with the Statzen attention cloud widget. Instead of a tag cloud that shows what you write about most, the attention cloud shows what readers view most.
Search topics
Every time a search engine leads a reader to your blog, Statzen records each word of the search that brought them to your post or page. And because Statzen tracks attention for each post, a Statzen subscriber can see what search topics were popular for any day, week, or month and how that attention changes over time.
Inference
You create content one post at a time. We get that. You publish that content in a blog platform that allows readers to view that content individually or combined with other content on the front page, or the “July posts” page or other index or summary pages. We get that too. So how do we track the attention that was received by an individual post when it was on the front page? Statzen inference tools.
We track what posts were on what page at what time. And whether it was the first post on the page or the last. Then we use our inference algorithm to estimate how much attention a post received on summary page as it moved from the first to the last position. Do you know more about how your blog is laid out than Statzen does? We give you tools to tweak the way inference works to better suit your blog.
We don’t dump the inferred attention stats in the with explicit attention stats. That would be wrong. We give you both. In one view. With meaningful graphics. In blue and orange. Those are our colors.
Insights
Statzen pulls insights from the data and delivers them to you. In English. (more languages coming) Was there a significant bump in attention? Did much of that traffic come from a new referrer? Was all of that traffic focused on a particular post or topic? Statzen will alert you.
Don’t pour through the numbers and graphs to figure out what’s new. Pour through the numbers and graphs because you love it. Or maybe that’s just me.
What other's are saying
But dude – seriously, the new dashboard is rocking my face off. WELL DONE!!!
